10 years in cloud and data. I work as a forward deployed engineer: embedded with the client's team for the length of the engagement, building hands-on rather than advising from a distance. The platform that ships is the one I designed, wrote and operated with the people who will own it.
The work has been in pharma, manufacturing, banking, insurance and the public sector, on Azure, AWS and Databricks, with Confluent Kafka for streaming, Collibra for governance and Terraform for everything that can be expressed as code. Compliance is part of the architecture from the first week: GxP validation, DORA-aligned controls, GDPR handling of personal data.
Engagements run in three phases. Assess: current estate, regulatory scope, target architecture, two to four weeks. Build: landing zone, platform, pipelines, governance, everything as code and reviewed. Run: operate, optimise cost, onboard new data domains, or hand over fully to your team.
When scope needs more hands, I bring senior engineers from a trusted network and stay accountable for the result.
